July 29 - Breakfast for Champions: The Power of Representation - Building Strong and Effective Governing Bodies
Last month, we hosted a virtual Breakfast for Champions session exploring what it means to serve on a board or government commission. Speakers dove into best practices for governance strategies, establishing productive partnerships, and building leadership capacity. A huge thank you to Agnes Zach and Sam Kang for sharing their wisdom and expertise.

August 6 - Say Hey! Clark College
Thank you to everyone that joined us for this quarter's Say Hey at Clark College! The night kicked off with an amazing performance by Folkloric Ballet of SW Washington, starting us out with tons of energy. We welcomed 6 honorees to the Portland Vancouver area and continued the night with meaningful conversations with new and familiar faces and delicious food.

Interested in becoming an Honoree at the next Say Hey!
Honorees are professionals of color that recently moved to Oregon or Southwest Washington. They are introduced to the community at the region largest multi-cultural networking event.
The deadline to submit for the November 4, 2026 Say Hey! at OMSI in Portland is Friday, October 23, 2026.

This year, both grant programs are running at the same time. The Community Services Grant provides up to $20,000 of support to local, nonprofits that assist in improving the lives of Hillsboro residents. The Community Impact Grant provides multiyear funding to a competitive nonprofit organization for a project that makes a targeted impact in a priority area of community concern.

Our partner, Relay Resources, is hosting their annual DisabilityNext Summit! Join us this October as futurists, innovators, disability inclusion advocates, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and change-makers will come together to explore bold ideas for the future of work, technology, leadership, accessibility, and belonging.

The Civics Learning Project helps Oregon's youth learn about democracy to grow into engaged community members. Civics Learning projects provides resources for educators including lesson plans for students to be able to engage in educational experiences and activities that teach them about democratic process, and government work.

“Through the Civics Learning Project I found my voice,” Ridgley Scholar, CLP student Sydney Smith reflected, “I grew significantly both in advocacy and connecting with others. Mock Trial and Con-Law taught me the values of commitment, teamwork, perseverance, loyalty, and resilience. It taught me to never back down from a challenge.”
