This group allows MENA professionals to build relationships, discuss relevant issues, and learn from one another. Our PRGs support professional growth in a community that centers lived experiences and prioritizes belonging.

The Oregon Commission on Hispanic Affairs invites you to Bracero Program Day!
The Bracero Program was signed in 1942 to address the agricultural labor shortage of the U.S. during World War II and Mexico's employment needs.
More than 15,000 Braceros came to Oregon over the years, many calling the Pacific Northwest their home to this day. Today, Mexican farmworkers are the backbone of Oregon's agricultural industry.

July 9 - Joint PRG Summer Gathering
Thank you to all who attended this year's Joint Professional Resource Group Summer Gathering. We were joined by members of our Asian and Pacific Islander (API), Black, Latino, Middle Eastern North African (MENA) and Native American PRGs. The community came together at Lan Su Chinese Gardens for an evening of networking, meaningful conversation, and connection.

July 14 - Women of Color Rising In-Person Session: "Use Your Own Story" with Dr. Katy Ho
We were thrilled to host our first in-person Women of Color Rising session of the season. We met at PCC Sylvania to hear Dr. Katy Ho speak on the power of using your own story to build trust as your authentic self. We look forward to our next virtual session with the cohort on September 1!

July 29 - Virtual Breakfast for Champions: The Power of Representation: Building Strong and Effective Governing Bodies
Last week, we hosted our Virtual Breakfast for Champions Session. Participants in the session explored what it means to serve on a board or government commission: governance strategies, roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members and government commissioners, and practical methods for building productive partnerships between volunteer leaders and executive staff. We were joined by Sam Kang, Executive Director of the Civics Learning Project, and Agnes Zach, Founder/CEO of Nonprofit Professionals Now.
