Thank you, Elaine Hsieh!

We would like to thank Elaine Hsieh for her commitment and leadership in guiding our API Professional Resource Group for the past 3 years! We are sad to have her term end but are grateful for all she brought to our community.

It was an honor and a privilege to be a Partners in Diversity Professional Resource Group Co-Chair. I enjoyed the collaboration with my co-chairs, the support from PiD, and the amazing connections I made along the way. Thank you for the experience and I look forward to more events to strengthen the community moving forward.

Welcome, Saba Saleem!

We are delighted to introduce our new API PRG co-chair, Saba Saleem! Saba has been an active member in our Partners in Diversity community and we look forward to her leadership with our API PRG!

PiD's API PRG has been an amazing space for me to connect with my roots, share our collective professional development barriers, and break some delicious bread. I'm looking forward to continuing to make space for others who may not have that otherwise. The leadership represented in all four of the PRGs is commendable, I'm honored to be joining them and especially Phil, who I've gotten to know through the API PRG.

Portland Metro Chamber - Leadership Portland Applications Open!

Leadership Portland takes you behind the scenes of how Portland really works. This civic engagement program brings together professionals from all sectors to dive into big issues like housing, public safety, education, local and state government, and more. During this dynamic 10-month program, you’ll build lasting connections, have real conversations, and walk away with a deeper understanding of Portland and your place in it.

The Portland Metro Chamber is able to offer a limited number of reduced tuition allocations to a small group of participants. Recipients can generally expect to receive a 25-50% discount on their program tuition. Small businesses, community service providers, and individuals from traditionally marginalized communities are prioritized for reduced tuition.

April 14 - Women of Color RISING Graduation and New Cohort Kickoff!

We recently had the honor of celebrating an amazing milestone: the graduation of our inaugural Women of Color RISING cohort. Over the past year, this remarkable group has shown what it means to grow with intention, embracing learning, reflection, and community along the way. Their journey has been one of courage, connection, and transformation, and we couldn’t be more proud of all they’ve accomplished.

At the same time, we’re thrilled to welcome our 2026–2027 cohort into the WOC RISING community. As one chapter closes, another begins, bringing fresh perspectives, new energy, and endless potential.

We look forward to the year ahead: to the lessons that will be learned, the relationships that will be built, and the many ways we will continue to uplift and empower one another.

April 29 - Lunch and Learn, Vancouver, WA

We spent the afternoon at our Lunch and Learn- The Growth of Two Cities: Advancing Belonging & Community Outcomes in Portland and Vancouver. In a time of uncertainty, transparency and meaningful community participation are essential. While some question whether organizations are stepping back from equity work, the focus must remain on advancing outcomes. Despite challenges, there is still room for action: engage in leadership, stay civically involved, support ERGs, invest in youth, think regionally, and hold systems accountable. By working collaboratively and rethinking our approaches, we can continue building stronger, more equitable communities.

Thank you to our moderator Phil Chun, and panelists Jeff Selby, Siobhana "Q" McEwen, Joy Fowler, and Lori Stegmann for their incredible insights!

Thank you to our sponsors iQ Credit Union and the City of Vancouver for their support!

Partners in Diversity is proud to spotlight one of our partners, Alaska Airlines. Read about them below!

"Inclusion at Alaska Airlines is not a standalone initiative—it’s embedded in how we operate every day. From hiring and development practices to leadership expectations and community engagement, we strive to create an environment where everyone feels they belong.

Our Culture & Belonging team supports employee recognition, events, and listening to ensure our people feel connected, safe, and empowered. They visit employees across the world as part of the Kōlea Connections Culture Tour, and they provide resources to get settled for new and relocating employees through a crowdsourced tool called "Community Compass."  We also invest in training, focus on hiring the best talent for every role, and build partnerships that help us continuously evolve. Ultimately, our culture of care is grounded in our shared values to: own safety, do the right thing, be caring and kind, and deliver performance."

A special thank you to our members for their continued commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion:
