Virtual Breakfast for Champions - The Power of Representation: Building Strong and Effective Governing Bodies

Wednesday, July 29, 2026 (8:30 AM - 10:00 AM) (PDT)

Description

Join us for this virtual Breakfast for Champions session where we will explore how effective boards and commissions are essential to advancing mission-driven work, strengthening public trust, ensuring accountability, and creating meaningful impact in our communities.

Today’s leaders must be equipped to navigate complex challenges that require strategic thinking, collaborative leadership, and the ability to engage diverse perspectives in decision-making. The session will cover governance for best practices, strategic oversight, community representation, and ways to foster productive partnerships between volunteer leaders and organizational staff.

Participants will explore the roles and responsibilities of nonprofit board members and government commissioners, the relationship between governing bodies and staff leadership, and practical strategies for effective onboarding, engagement, and leadership development. It is time to strengthen governance practices and build leadership capacity for the future.

Designed for current and aspiring board members, government commissioners, nonprofit executives, public sector staff, and community members interested in civic and nonprofit leadership, this session will provide valuable insights into what effective board leadership looks like and how you can make a meaningful contribution to your organization and community.
